Located in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire, Scotland, nestling between the distinctive peaks of Bennachie and Dunnideer, this golf course is really the Hidden Gem of Grampian’s Crown. It is a parkland course requiring an accurate approach play to leave the ball in the correct position for the testing putts on the undulating greens.

The golf course was extended from nine holes to 18 in 1997. Funding was made possible for this through the National Lottery, the Foundation for Sports and Arts, the R&A Golf Club and members paying a levy. 12 new holes were provided as part of the extension. These have matured over time and now provide a full test of golfing ability.

The construction of a modern, open plan clubhouse was completed in April 2004 . The clubhouse provides for all the needs of the modern golfer

- spacious ground floor changing facilities complete with showers, shop and office,
- a bright bar area with outstanding views over the old course and Dunnideer
- complimented by an adjoining seated restaurant providing home cooking of the highest quality.

The picturesque village of Insch is only a 40-minute drive from Aberdeen up the A96 and has a station on the main Aberdeen-Inverness rail line. Insch Golf Club is ideally located for golfers travelling along the east coast of Scotland north of St. Andrews and Dundee, perhaps playing the more illustrious courses at Carnoustie, Montrose, Rosemount, Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay, Nairn and onwards to Royal Dornoch and Brora. But the test of golf does not only come from the major venues; Insch golf course will provide its own challenges and all visitors are assured of a warm welcome.
History The game of golf in Insch was first recorded before World War I, with the course being laid around Dunnideer Hill. It was then moved to its present location around 1923 where it existed until 1940, when the ground was seconded by the War Department for use as a grenade range. Golf was absent in Insch until a committee was formed in 1977 to provide the village with such a facility. A nine-hole course was built by voluntary labour along Valentine Burn and was reopened for play in 1982. The club expanded further in 1987, when an innovative clubhouse facility - complete with changing rooms, office, bar, cafe and dance floor - was provided from the remnants of temporary accommodation for a local school. Golf Clubhouse, Insch 2002 The course was extended by the addition of 12 new holes on the slopes of Dunnideer. The design intent of the new course was to match that of the old course, in providing a Parkland course for all golfing abilities, designed around the undulating terrain, with innovative use of water and trees, that would mature over time. The course extension started in 1995 and was completed a year later. It was officially opened on 28th June, 1997 and has now fully matured to met the vision of the original course designers. With rising membership and rapidly aging clubhouse, the club members approved a new business plan which included the design and construction of a modern clubhouse - to the design outlined below - at the Golf Club EGM held in March 2003.
