From Edinburgh city bypass Eastbound take the Straighton exit and follows signs for the city centre. Follow dual carriageway to traffic lights, stay straight for the next 3 traffic lights then turn right at the next to Cameron Toll. Turn left up Dalkeith Road then right at the second set of traffic lights. Second left then straight on into the carpark.

From Northbound on the A1 turn off at the Old Craighall junction onto the Edinburgh city bypass, straight on at the Sherrifhall roundabout for approx 2.5 miles and then take the Straiton exit, follow the road right round the roundabout and follow signs for city centre Follow dual carriageway to traffic lights, stay straight for the next 3 traffic lights then turn right at the next to Cameron Toll. Turn left up Dalkeith Road then right at the second set of traffic lights. Second left then straight on into the carpark.

James Braid, one of the most famous names in golf, created the present layout. The course is a testing par 70 of 6207 yards whose two par 5s are very long but its par 3's quite short by today's standards. The character lies in the amount of long testing par 4's that can vary greatly depending on wind direction and strength.
