Glencorse is a short but demanding course with a burn featuring at 10 of the holes. It is heavily wooded but still enjoys fine views across the surrounding countryside, especially to the Pentland Hills.

The club celebrated its centenary in 1990 having been at the present site since 1885 and the layout has changed little in that time.

Glencorse's signature hole is the par 3, 235 yard 5th played from an elevated tee to a green protected by the burn and lined with trees. It has been described as one of the finest holes in Lothians golf.

The demands of the course, where only one hole measures less than 200 yards, puts an emphasis on long, accurate iron play rather than outright length. This has enabled the name of Glencorse to be carried by 2 Scottish Amateur Champions, 1 British Boys Champion and 2 Walker Cup players. The club's representative teams also enjoy considerable success in competitions within Midlothian and the Lothians.
