Duddingston Golf Club is situated only a few minutes from the very heart of the city centre of Scotland's capital and close to Holyrood Palace, Scotland's new Parliament Building and all of Edinburgh's famous tourist attractions. Other clubs nearby Portobello Golf Course (1.1 miles), Prestonfield Golf Club (1.2 miles), Liberton Golf Club (1.3 miles), Craigentinny (1.9 miles), Craigmillar Park Golf Club (2 miles), Musselburgh Golf Club (2.9 miles), Braid Hills Golf Course (3.1 miles), Kings Acre (3.3 miles) The gently undulating parkland course (in Gaelic Duddingston means 'sunny side of the hill') is maintained to a high standard throughout the year. The course is a very good test of golf with the Braid Burn winding through the fairways and challenging the golfer on a number of holes. In 2005 the club completed a major refurbishment of its clubhouse. The locker rooms, professional shop and bar catering facilities are outstanding and offer the golfer a welcome reception before and after a round of golf. History Duddingston Golf Club, founded in 1895, was designed by three times Open Champion Willie Park. The course was extended in the 1960's and 1970's by John Shade and Bill Biggar and, with the addition of the new tee at the 12th hole, now measures 6525 yards.
