Blackwell is a club with a small membership and reflects the playing of golf on an uncrowded course of original and timeless character in an atmosphere of congenial company.

Whilst each hole has it's own individual character, one feature of particular note on the course is the bunker which runs some 200 yards down the right hand side of the 12th hole. This is claimed to be the longest bunker in golf and although in recent years narrow crossing points have been built into the bunker, the claim remains unchallenged.

Both halves have a tough finish. The pond at the 9th has to be carried some 200 Yards from the back Tee in order to hit this green - anything less than a perfect strike will have a watery grave.

The 18th is a memorable finishing hole with a challenging second shot to a narrow sloping green beside the club house. A magnificent Beech Tree, adjacent to the green, is always waiting to play a part in the last hole dramas.

During the 1990's Blackwell played host as a Regional Qualifying Course for the Open on six occasions.

The Club is also proud to have three English Amatuer Champions as Members during the past seventy years.

Blackwell's welcoming facilities in a farmhouse setting are designed to gladden the hearts of all who play there.
